The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) has announced the registration of securities issued by Global Insurance S.C., marking another step in implementing Ethiopia’s securities registration framework under the country’s capital market regulations.
According to a notice published by the Authority, ECMA approved Global Insurance’s Registration Statement on June 30, 2026, in accordance with Articles 4 and 29 of the Public Offer and Trading of Securities Directive No. 1030/2024.
As part of the registration, ECMA recorded 682,180 existing shares already held by the company’s shareholders. In addition, the Authority approved the registration of 55,172 new shares, which will be offered exclusively to the insurer’s existing shareholders through a rights issue.
ECMA noted that the registration is a regulatory requirement for securities offered to the public or otherwise subject to registration under Ethiopian capital market laws. The Authority emphasized that issuers are required to register eligible securities before they can be offered or traded in accordance with the directive.
The regulator also clarified that the publication of the notice does not constitute an endorsement of the securities or the offer itself, nor should it be interpreted as a solicitation to buy or sell securities. Instead, the notice serves solely to inform the public that the securities have been registered with the Authority.
The registration reflects ECMA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency and regulatory oversight as Ethiopia continues to develop its capital market ecosystem.
