The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) has licensed three new Capital Market Service Providers (CMSPs), further expanding Ethiopia’s capital market ecosystem and increasing the total number of licensed providers from 18 to 21.
The newly licensed firms are PrizeWorth Investment Bank S.C., which received an Investment Bank license, and BluFin Capital Advisory PLC and Lumina Capital PLC, both licensed as Securities Investment Advisors.
The licenses were formally presented by ECMA Director General Hana Tehelku during a ceremony held on Friday at the Authority’s headquarters in Addis Ababa. The Authority also approved the licensing of 10 Appointed Representatives and the appointment of 15 board directors for the three newly licensed firms following what it described as a rigorous licensing review process.
With the latest approvals, the number of licensed Investment Banks in Ethiopia has increased to eight, while the number of licensed Securities Investment Advisors has risen to 11.
Addressing the newly licensed institutions, Director General Hana Tehelku congratulated the firms and urged them to provide market-driven services with professionalism and integrity, promote investor inclusion, and remain committed to serving the public interest.
ECMA said the new licenses reflect its continued efforts to strengthen Ethiopia’s capital market by expanding the number of regulated market participants and fostering the development of a strong, inclusive, and resilient financial market.
